Collaboration and Community

MADE MOBB + UMKC

Ever wonder what makes a successful design collaboration? Join MADE MOBB co-owner Vu Radley and members of the UMKC design team (Sarah Dresslaer, Mike Duah, Alia Herrman, and Sarah Richardson) in a panel discussion about how design collaborations help strengthen community and elevate all brands involved, particularly Roos Mobb, a community collaboration between a Kansas City streetwear brand and Kansas City’s top university.

Through discussions, a behind-the-scenes video and Q&A, discover how they combined their creative skills and expertise to design a collection of limited-edition merchandise, as well as marketed and hosted a launch party so successful that it became the top-selling pop-up event in MADE MOBB’s history.

Mike Duah

He graduated in 2012 with an A.A.S. in graphic design from Johnson County Community College and has a B.S. in journalism, strategic communication emphasis, from the University of Kansas.

Alia Herrman

Creative and Digital Services Director, UMKC Strategic Marketing and Communications

Choosing just one creative outlet has never been easy for Alia, but design thinking is the thread that ties all her pursuits together, both personal and professional. Her day job is directing a team of creatives at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, but her passions include problem-solving, innovating new concepts and helping her team members reach their potential. Trained in graphic design at the University of Kansas, Alia went on to learn web UI/UX design, front-end web development and grew a single web position into a team of eight. Now she oversees a team of 20+ and is always learning. She also performs flute and sings, dabbles in various art mediums (mostly for fun) and is even designing a board game.
