Old School: New Rules
Tour the Residences at Park 39
What's not to like? The tour of this historic high-school-turned-new-apartments project will grab the interest of anyone who loves seeing old buildings come back to life.
House-hunters, HGTV-watchers, and antique-ers of all stripes will enjoy this tour. But so will Planners who will learn about the considerations of adaptive reuse of a school in an urban area; Architects who will get to explore how the design best intersects with the sustainability features (earning LEED Silver certification!); And Interior Designers who will love how the design aesthetics from three different eras over the last 100 years play off the historic elements that were restored, all while adding a clean and complimentary approach to the kitchen and bathrooms.
Come for the tour, stay for the networking: A reception is included.
The speakers include representatives from USGBC Central Plains, AIA Kansas City Committee on the Environment (COTE), the project developer: Sustainable Development Partners, and members of the project team from Burns & McDonnell and Greenwood Consulting Group.
